J.S. BACH: CONCERTO FOR 3 HARPSICHORDS
CANTATA 147 (“Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring”)
P.D.Q BACH: THE SEASONINGS
The season ends with an exciting collaboration between Mountainside Baroque and the FSU Department of Music, offering entertainment ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous! Along with the compositions of Johann Sebastian Bach, including the amazing sound of his rarely-heard 3-harpsichord concerto (spotlighting three of the best keyboard artists on the East Coast: Marc Bellassai, Elisabeth Wright and Elliot Figg). Coupled with this is his rarely heard cantata 147, which concludes with the favorite melody, "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring." No concert of Bach would be complete without tongue-in-cheek music by the oddest of his twenty-odd children, P.D.Q Bach, with his new oratorio, The Seasonings, featuring some of the rarer instruments of the time, such as the tromboon, and the windbreaker.
Those under 21 AND FROSTBURG U. STUDENTS are admitted free.
